Rocky Vista University Announces Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice Program

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Rocky Vista University Announces Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice Program.

Englewood, CO – Rocky Vista University (RVU) is excited to announce that its Doctor of Anesthesia Practice (DNAP) program has received initial accreditation from the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA). The program will be the first and only such program offered by a Colorado institution. This achievement addresses the growing demand for Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) and affirms RVU’s vision of achieving new heights in medical education.

Craig S. Atkins, DNP, CRNA, Associate Professor and Program Director, expressed his enthusiasm for the new program. “This milestone represents a significant step in addressing the growing shortage of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) across the state and beyond,” said Dr. Atkins. “We are thrilled to welcome our first class of students and guide them in mastering the principles of patient safety, personalized care, effective communication, and professional collaboration. Together, we are shaping nurse anesthetists who will lead with excellence and make a meaningful impact on the future of healthcare.”

The DNAP program will welcome its inaugural class of students this summer at RVU’s Colorado campus. The curriculum combines a robust foundation in biomedical sciences with advanced anesthesia training and leadership development. Students will benefit from RVU’s close-knit community environment and the commitment of every member of the RVU community in fostering a learning environment that helps students achieve academic and clinical success.

“Our DNAP program exemplifies RVU’s mission to prepare healthcare professionals who serve with compassion, integrity and excellence and impact their communities positively,” said David Forstein, DO, FACOOG, President and CEO of Rocky Vista University. “We are thrilled to open our doors to the first class of students this summer as they embark on their journey toward becoming CRNAs.”
