Dear RVU Family:
COVID-19 cases are on the rise. Both CO and UT have had greater than 10% increases from the previous week. At RVU, 4 people tested positive for COVID-19 with 4 tests still pending since our email last week. The CDC estimates up to 500,000 new cases may be reported nationwide during the week ending November 14.
Here are this week’s updates:
- CRT Town Hall. Please plan on attending the next COVID-19 Town Hall scheduled for Wednesday, November 11 at noon. Please submit any questions to the CRT by 2:00 PM Friday, November 6th. You should direct your questions to:
- Get your flu shot. Getting vaccinated for influenza is more important than ever before because of COVID-19. It is possible to get both infections at the same time. That would be really bad.
- COVID-19 tests. If you think you may have COVID-19, consider getting tested yourself. Cigna, our employee insurance company is offering free COVID-19 tests to insured employees who are experiencing COVID symptoms or have been exposed to someone with COVID. This offer is currently set to expire on October 31st. Most other insurance plans also cover COVID testing but it is best to go online or call to confirm.
- MYTH: Cloth face coverings will protect me from getting COVID-19.
FACT: Cloth face coverings are not considered PPE. Only surgical/procedure face masks (including KN95) and respirators (N95) are personal protective equipment. Cloth face coverings worn by people who are infected with the COVID-19 virus can help prevent spreading the virus. However, cloth face coverings may not protect the wearer from inhaling particles containing SARS-CoV2.
