RVU named Chapter of the Year at Association of Military Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (AMOPS) annual meeting


RVU is thrilled to share the remarkable achievements of RVU representatives at this year’s Association of Military Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (AMOPS) annual meeting in Tulsa, Oklahoma. 
 

Chapter of the Year Award 

The RVU Colorado Chapter of the Student Association of Military Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (SAMOPS) received the prestigious Chapter of the Year award. Nikki Shahi, President of SAMOPS-RVUCOM, graciously accepted the chapter award, expressing gratitude for the dedication of SAMOPS members and their commitment to service. 
 

Individual Student Achievements 

RVU students received recognition for their outstanding achievements, including awards for research and case reports. Special congratulations to 2nd Lieutenant Zach Ryan (OMS II) for receiving the Junior Officer of the Year award; Ensign Emma Curtis (OMS III) received the Original Research of the Year Award for first place, with 2nd Lieutenant Andrea Schmitt and 2nd Lieutenant Ally Spohn receiving the award for second place. In the case report category, 2nd Lieutenant Zach Ryan and Ensign Michael Miller (OMS III) received first—and second-place awards, respectively. 
 

SAMOPS Executive Board Appointments 

Several RVU students were appointed to key positions on the SAMOPS Executive Board, further solidifying our presence in the military medical community. These appointments included 2nd Lieutenant Nikki Shahi (OMS II) as the Army representative, 2nd Lieutenant Andrea Schmitt (OMS II) as the Social Media representative, 2nd Lieutenant Megan McCoy (OMS III) as the Western representative, and 2nd Lieutenant Ally Spohn (OMS II) as the Public Relations representative. 
 

These achievements reflect RVU’s commitment to excellence in medical education and service to our country. Congratulations to all involved!
