Nicole Michels, PhD, is the Chair of the Department of Medical Humanities and also serves as Assistant Professor of Physiology in the Department of Biomedical Sciences. She graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical Center with a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Dr. Michels recently completed a postdoctoral fellowship at National Jewish Health where her research focused on innate immune defense mechanisms against Mycoplasma pneumoniae. Her research interests are focused on the role of immune responses in host defense and autoimmunity.
