Dr. Joseph Stasio Receives RVU's Presidential Award of Excellence

[July 13, 2017] Rocky Vista University (RVU) is pleased to announce that Joseph Stasio, DO, FACOFP, was awarded the Presidential Award of Excellence.

The Presidential Award of Excellence was established in 2017 to honor and recognize the faculty members who consistently demonstrate excellence in the scholarly activity of teaching, service, and research. While the award is bestowed by the University president, the recipient is chosen by his or her fellow faculty members.

As the first recipient of this award, Dr. Stasio has set the bar high for others to follow. He is the Chair of the Primary Care Medicine Department at RVU, as well as Professor of Family Medicine. He is involved with multiple committees, both locally and nationally: Student Progress, Admissions, Case Development, Curriculum, and Benefits. He has been integral to the University accreditation process, including working with the Higher Learning Commission and the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation. He serves as National Faculty for the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners and is involved with the Rocky Mountain Osteopathic Postdoctoral Training Institution. He has been an active member of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP) and was even named ACOFP Family Physician of the Year in 2016.

“Dr. Stasio has a long and distinguished history of service to both the osteopathic profession and to Rocky Vista University,” said Clinton E. Adams, DO, FACHE, President and CEO of RVU. “First as a physician assistant, then as a doctor of osteopathic medicine, he has shown consistent dedication to the health and wellbeing of others. He has been a vital and valued member of the University since 2007. We are honored and privileged to have faculty of Dr. Stasio’s caliber to mentor and educate the physicians of the 21st century.”

Dr. Stasio received the Presidential Award of Excellence during the University’s Commencement on May 16th.
