Dr. Dwight Hertz Honored with Professor Emeritus Status at Rocky Vista University

[December 15, 2021 – Parker, CO] Rocky Vista University’s (RVU) Board of Trustees (BOT) has honored Dwight Hertz, MD, retiring Professor of Pathology, with the title of Professor Emeritus. The designation of “emeritus” is reserved for faculty members who have served RVU over a number of years and who will remain active in scholarship following their retirement.

“Dr. Hertz has been a valued and vital member of the [RVU] community for nine years. This prestigious honor is well-deserved. The dedication and commitment he has shown throughout his career as a medical educator is inspirational to us all,” said Heather Ferrill, DO, MS, Dean of RVUCOM.

While at RVU, Dr. Hertz never missed an opportunity to impart knowledge and wisdom to RVU’s students and employees. Outside of the classroom, Dr. Hertz hosted the popular “From Triathlete to Tetraplegic” presentation about his personal medical experience, which always packed the auditoriums at RVU. He also participated in a guest speaker series for the Integrative Medicine Interest Group, a student club, in the annual “Why We Overeat” educational presentation. A retirement party for Dr. Hertz was held in late October.

Dr. Hertz was recommended to RVU’s BOT for evaluation for the honorary title of Professor Emeritus by Mark Payton, PhD, Chair of Biomedical Sciences; Ben Wilde, DO, Chair of Faculty Senate; and David Forstein, DO, FACOOG, President, CEO, and Provost.
