RVUCOM Policy on Student Away Rotations During the COVID Pandemic (PDF)

We will be administering all ExamSoft assessments remotely using applications called ExamID and ExamMonitor, which provide secure remote proctoring using the microphone and webcam on your laptop to record you taking the exam. To the degree possible, the protocol and security for your exams will be the same as when you take them on campus, and they will be given at the times reflected on the student calendar.

In the next couple of days, we will send more information about these applications. You’ll be required to take a one-question mock quiz to take a baseline photo for ExamID.

The first, vital step is to make sure you are using the latest version of Examplify, 2.3.2. Please see the attached instructions. The links do not work in the PDF files, so use this link:

Please check your Examplify version and make this update as soon as possible. You must do so before you can setup ExamID, a baseline requirement without which you will not be able to take any remote RVU assessments.

I know you will have a lot of questions about this process. Where possible, wait until you have received the longer e-mail from us in OOT outlining the procedure for taking exams using ExamMonitor—it may answer your question. Always use officeoftesting@rvu.edu –it quadruples your chances of a fast response.

While the campus remains closed and in-person appointments have been suspended, the RVU Writing Center is available to help students via Zoom and asynchronous appointments. If you'd like to schedule an appointment, you can click here, which will take you to the calendar with my availability. Once you've selected a time for your appointment, you can decide on whether you want to meet in real-time via Zoom or if you'd prefer an asynchronous meeting. Asynchronous means you'll receive feedback in an email, which you can then review at your convenience.

Ms. Stephenson on the Utah campus is also available. Students who would like to schedule a Zoom or asynchronous meeting with Ms. Stephenson should email her directly.

Previously scheduled face-to-face appointments will be automatically moved to Zoom. If you've already scheduled your appointment and would prefer asynchronous to Zoom, let me know.

Students can continue to email registrar@ruv.edu for all normal requests (e.g. transcripts, diploma copies, verification letters, ERAS/VSAS uploads, change of name/address, etc.), and dpaltza@rvu.edu for current SSP applications, grade/transcript issues, or other specific questions not covered in the record request form on MyVista.

Our advisors are available for questions and information as usual and can be contacted by email and/or phone during all regular business hours.

• All 1:1 Advising sessions will take place via video conference or by phone. Students may select which option best fits their needs when they schedule the appointment.

Tutoring

• For the time being, all Individual and Group Tutoring sessions for OPP, PCM, and Anatomy Lab have been suspended while further information is being gathered pertaining to the delivery of these course materials.
• All individual course tutoring can be held via video conferencing, email, phone call, or students' preferred method of online tutoring.  Tutor training will be provided soon on preferred online methods.
• Students will schedule appointments the same way that they have always done. Please be mindful of the one tutoring session limit per week unless permission has been authorized by Student Affairs.
• Group Tutoring Sessions for the systems courses will continue as scheduled but will be delivered via Zoom.  Links to the group tutoring sessions have been added to the Student Activities Calendar.

Colleges and universities across the United States and around the world are scrambling to keep their students, staff, and faculty healthy, safe and educated during the COVID-19 pandemic. News of a widespread public health concern like COVID-19 can cause feelings of anxiety, depression, and feelings of uncertainty. Many students are dealing with sudden changes to quickly leave their campus without contingency plans yet in place. This can be extremely stressful. It is completely expected and appropriate to experience fear during a situation like this. School leaders are working hard to provide the necessary support to their students and loved ones.

Mental Health counseling appointments are being accepted here. Meetings will be conducted through HIPAA-compliant, telehealth mechanisms. Also, please remember that all students can access StudentLinc 24/7 for free confidential counseling by calling 1-888-893-LINC (5462).

FEMA Resources: Crisis Counseling for Stress and Anxiety Related to Pandemic

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has approved four states, including Colorado and Utah, for the development of crisis counseling programs for residents struggling with stress and anxiety as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Students are encouraged to continue to participate online with club and student government meetings and activities as much as is creatively possible and to be innovative in how to meet and support each other in online spaces. We will continue to offer student activities utilizing technology where possible. Student Life will continue working on on-going initiatives, such as student government, student organizations, task forces, and peer mentors.
