Enrollment Management Refines Whole Person Approach

The office of Enrollment Management changed its processes for the 2023-2024 cycle to provide a seamless experience for applicants and embody RVU’s core values of inclusivity, innovation, and integrity.

A significant adjustment was the introduction of a uniform scoring matrix to review all candidates creating an equal and inclusive assessment of applications that considers more than just test scores and GPAs. Instead, this matrix adopts a whole-person approach that considers shadowing experience, hands-on clinical experience, GPAs, course choices, volunteerism, MCAT, letters of recommendation, essays, and personal statements.

The Enrollment team reduced application review time from 3 months to 2 weeks by refining workflows and clarifying roles and expectations. This ensures a more efficient evaluation process, establishing communication with applicants early on, and reflects RVU’s commitment to excellence and integrity.

Furthermore, the team ramped up recruitment efforts across all three campuses, engaging with prospective students through medical fairs across the US and Canada. In addition to ramping up recruitment efforts, the team focused heavily on engaging with prospective and accepted students by increasing touchpoints, swag giveaways, and on-campus events to decrease the number of students who withdraw.

The team also worked to promote cross-collaboration among RVU programs, prioritizing a student-first approach. These changes, among others, have assisted in creating a more holistic and consistent application process for candidates. Thank you to the Enrollment Management team for their hard work!
