RVU is committed to fostering a safe and welcoming campus environment; thus, all members of the RVU community are responsible for fair and equitable treatment of others. All RVU employees and students complete an annual required training on Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Per Title VI, no person may be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or otherwise subjected to discrimination under RVU’s programs or activities based on race, color, national origin, actual or perceived: (i) shared ancestry or ethnic characteristics; or (ii) citizenship or residency in a country with a dominant religion or distinct religious identity. The Title VI Coordinator oversees RVU’s compliance with Title VI and can assist with any questions, concerns, or complaints regarding discrimination.
If you have any concerns related to race, color, or national origin discrimination or if you believe you have experienced or witnessed a Title VI violation, we encourage you to report it using our Ethics Point system.
Violations may be reported to RVU for investigation via Ethics Point. The Title VI Coordinator will conduct a prompt, thorough, and impartial investigation of all complaints. Please see the RVU Title VI Policy for more information.
Parties may also file a complaint directly with the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights.
The purpose of this policy is to ensure compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Title VI states, ”No person in the United States shall, on the grounds of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.” Title VI is also considered to prohibit discrimination based on shared ancestry or ethnic characteristics. Title VI protects anyone, regardless of citizenship or lawful presence in the United States. It also protects individuals from retaliation for filing a complaint, participating in an investigation, or opposing discriminatory practices. This policy applies to all students, faculty, staff, and visitors of Rocky Vista University (RVU or University).
Rocky Vista University is committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all students, employees, and visitors. Discrimination based on race, color, shared ancestry, or national origin is strictly prohibited. The University will take prompt action to address any complaints of discriminatory behavior to ensure compliance with Title VI.
Please refer to RVU’s Title VI Policy for additional information.
